The Gratitude Challenge – Day 10
I’d like to invite you to take the Gratitude Challenge with me. Every day during the month of January join me in setting an intentional attitude of gratitude by writing about one thing you are grateful for. Hopefully our new attitude will last beyond January and carry us throughout the year. Email your gratitude to me at AuntB@MamasHealth.com or write below in the comments.
Day 10
Forgiven people, forgive people.
Really? I suppose that’s true. This is a hard one for me, because I don’t like humble pie baked or fried, with or without cheese. I don’t like to admit “I was wrong,” or that “I’m sorry” or “please forgive me.”
Have you ever had things fly right pass your brain and out of your mouth? Oh I’ve had some doozies.
I’ve introduced someone as “D—‘s hoochie wife,” at a large gathering.
When my friend said her turkey always came out dry, I told her, “It wouldn’t if you knew how to cook it.”
When my significant other told a story admitting a mistake they made, I remarked, “that was stupid!” in front of their friends. Oops.
Yes, I have flaws and they are many. I’m sure you do too.
What I’m grateful for is that after I’ve managed to choke down a couple of bites of that humble pie and ask for forgiveness, these folks have forgiven me. Their forgiveness and acceptance of my opinionated and sometimes self-righteous, big mouthed self has made me able to forgive others. Forgiving doesn’t mean the other person is right, or that you approve of what they’re doing; it just means that you accept them, as they are, where they are. And for that, I am grateful.
